Our Founder
Mark Olazagasti
Mark Olazagasti, a lifelong Delawarean and first-generation entrepreneur, founded YourMoney101 in 2015 to address the critical need for financial literacy in the workplace. After a successful 36-year career in banking and IT, he turned his passion for personal finance into a mission—helping small business employees gain the knowledge and confidence to take control of their financial futures through free, employer-sponsored financial wellness programs.
Unsatisfied with the lack of financial literacy education in our schools, Mark has been a strident advocate for legislation sponsored by Rep. Jeff Hilovsky, R-Millsboro, which would require high school students, beginning with students entering the 9th Grade to take and pass a minimum of a half-credit course on financial literacy in order to graduate.
A member of the Goldey-Beacom College Board of Trustees, Mark has conducted more than 85 business and personal finance Q&A sessions for hundreds of students at local educational institutions including Goldey-Beacom College, Wilmington University, Delaware Technical Community College, and the University of Delaware.
Growing up in a single-parent household and making financial mistakes early in adulthood forced me to become a student of personal finance. Later, as a business owner, I saw firsthand that even highly educated, high-earning professionals struggled with money—not due to income, but due to a lack of financial education. That realization drove me to create YourMoney101.org, to ensure more people have access to the financial knowledge they need to build a secure future.”
